Bad Breath dentist

Source : 24 hour dentist melbourne
If you suffer from Bad Breath or Halitosis and have not found a successful treatment for it, then we have the answer. The CloSys II Oral Rinse and Toothpaste.
http://images.waterfrontmedia.com/EverydayHealth/article/photos/image/pkg_dental_health_awareness_getting_to_the_root_of_bad_breath_or_halitosis_article.jpgOne of the most common causes of Bad Breath is advanced Gum Disease and sometimes this is the only sign that gum disease exists. In most cases even your closest partner won't even tell you of your problem.
Bacteria accumulating under the gums produce odour causing volatile sulphur compounds called VSCs which are a similar odour to rotten eggs.
Not only do these VSCs cause bad breath but they also promote the advancement of the gum disease.
At Holistic Dental we have the CLOSYSII ® ORAL RINSE AND TOOTHPASTEproducts available that not only cover up the odours causing Bad Breath, but will actually destroy them. CloSys II can also assist in the prevention of gum disease in your continuing care and maintenance program.

At Holistic Dental our dentists can work with you and following Comprehensive Examination and Diagnosis they can determine the cause of your problem and recommend the best treatment for you.

Dental Implants and it`s advantages

Thinking of having a dental implant? Before making a final decision, here are some very important things you have to know about. Dental implants are simply artificial tooth replacements used as treatment for missing teeth.
Do you experience some of the following issues with your dentures or bridges?
  • When eating foods do your dentures shift and click so that it is uncomfortable?
  • Have you ever been public speaking and had issues where your bridge or denture was shifting and making it uncomfortable to speak?
  • Do you wish you could eat more steak and comfortably bite into an apple without fear of your denture becoming loose.
  • Are you embarassed to smile?
  • Have you been experiencing bone loss or gum recession since wearing dentures or having a dental bridge?
  • Have your dentures ever cracked or made it uncomfortable to fit.
  • Do you feel like you've lost the smile you had when you had your natural teeth?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.
There are many advantages of dental implants over fixed bridges. They can be fixed with no change to the overall structure of the face or jawbone, as is often the case when a tooth is removed. When teeth are extracted, the jawbone is not stimulated by the chewing action, so it loses its shape. There is also no need to interfere with the teeth on each side of the implant. With a fixed bridge, these teeth have to be cut down.

In fact, an implant does not need to have a tooth on each side of it. And where there is a gap from several missing teeth, implants can be used right across the space. Implants are easier to maintain and last longer than fixed bridges, which often have to be replaced due to dental caries underneath or in the teeth on either side.
Implants are more expensive initially, but over a seven-year period their maintenance works out much cheaper than that for fixed bridges. There are many advantages of dental implants over fixed bridges. They can be fixed with no change to the overall structure of the face or jawbone, as is often the case when a tooth is removed. When teeth are extracted, the jawbone is not stimulated by the chewing action, so it loses its shape. Implant fixtures hardly ever need to be replaced since they are not prone to tooth decayor any other disease. Fixed bridges usually last about 10 years - 15 at the most, then they need replacing.
No special treatments are required here. Your implants will be easy to take care of. Just treat them as you would normal teeth. Brush them well and regularly, using a good brand of toothpaste. Flossing and regular visits to your local dentist will keep them in good condition. Early signs of trouble can be spotted by your dentist and dealt with.
Since dental implants look, feel and function like natural teeth, you will have a new set of teeth or a new tooth that will greatly improve the cosmetic appearance of your smile. So have an appointment with the best dental implant dentist in Melbourne at holistic dental today.

Crooked Teeth Leave a Negative First Impression (COSMETIC)

Source : Best General Dentist

An AC Neilsen survey in Australia revealed that 82% of respondents believe straight teeth and a nice smile are important for self esteem and 81% think this makes a person more attractive.  With a similar survey conducted in the USA revealing people with straight teeth are often viewed as more attractive and confident.

Further, almost three quarters (72%) of the survey respondents agree that people with healthy straight teeth are typically treated better in social situations than those with noticeably crooked teeth.

The study also indicated that despite societal pressures to be thin,   adults believe straightening crooked teeth would improve a person's appearance as much as losing those extra ten pounds. In fact, among survey respondents, men were even more likely than women (50% versus 44%) to select "straightening crooked teeth" over "losing those 10 extra pounds" as a means for improving attractiveness.

Since traditional metal braces are not always a desirable option for adults with active lifestyles who want to straighten their teeth. The ordeal of dealing with wearing braces for up to two years has turned over 730 000 people to Invisalign.

Invisalign is a virtually undetectable, easy-to-use, removable, comfortable and hygienic system used for used forimprovements such as crowding or excess spacing of teeth, or to treat more complex cases such as overbites, underbites and even crossbites.

Invisalign uses a series of clear, plastic, removable appliances (‘Aligners’) that gently move teeth to desired final positions. Invisalign significantly reduces hygienic and aesthetic limitations associated with braces. Cutting-edge three dimensional computer graphics, the Internet and patented software is used to manufacture individual Invisalign Aligners for each patient. . Patients wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next set in the series. Treatment duration varies from patient to patient, however, is typically between six months to fourteen months.

As a revolutionary alternative to traditional braces, the Key benefits of Invisalign are that:
  • It is virtually invisible. No one will know you are in treatment and you can smile during as well as after treatment.
  • Patients can remove the Aligners for meals and special events.
  • Aligners can be removed so teeth can be easily brushed and flossed, promoting healthy teeth and preventing gum disease.
  • There is no metal to cause abrasion in the mouth or gum and tongue infections.
  • Fewer visits to dentists or orthodontists are required than with braces.
  • Patients can view their own virtual treatment plan when they start on a computer screen, enabling them to see how their teeth will look on completion of the treatment.

How Does Your Implantologist Assess Suitability for Implant Treatment?

Source : 24 hours dentist

The patient journey begins with the initial consultation that aims to provide a frame work from which the implantologist can devise a series of well defined stages to allow the information gained here to be transferred from the diagnostic preview to the final restoration.

Your dentist should treat every case using a full patient care approach. He will begin with a full clinical exam and take any necessary x-rays and photographs. He will also take some moulds to get study models produced which he will use to help him treatment plan the case.

He will continue with a more in-depth analysis of the bone availability, space for the implant, your bite, soft tissues and smile line. If there has been substantial bone loss then the patient may need to be sent for a CT scan.

All of this information is then used to formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Once this has been decided, your implantologist should send the patient a full written estimate of the cost of the treatment together with a patient care and consent letter explaining the proposed treatment. This letter should detail any risks involved in order that the patient can make an informed decision on whether to proceed.
At this stage the patient may want to come back and discuss any queries that they may have regarding the treatment. Once the patient is satisfied the consent letter is signed and treatment can be commenced.

The first step in the treatment sequence is placing the implant into the jaw using a gentle surgical technique. The bone forms a strong bond to the implant after just 6-12weeks, providing a solid foundation for attaching a replacement tooth (crown). Following this brief period of time fabrication of the replacement tooth can begin. This process involves a few appointments for attaching an abutment or post to the implant, taking impressions (moulds) of your teeth and checking the proper fit and color of the crown.

Implant treatment can take anything from3 to 12 months to complete. The timescale depends on the complexity of the case and whether bone grafting is required or not.

Choosing a dentist is a hard task, so you can rely on best amalgam replacement dentist.

Preventive care – helping you to keep your teeth and gums healthy – is at the heart of our practice philosophy. With this in mind, we have:

• Increased both hygiene and check-up appointment sessions to one hour so that we can carry out a very thorough examination that not only looks after your teeth but your overall health too.

• Employed a consultant to further develop our knowledge and awareness of gum disease and its links to other health problems such as heart disease and strokes.

• Installed intra oral cameras in both treatment rooms to aid diagnosis and enable patients to see what is happening inside their mouths.

All this means that our patients can rest assured that they are in very good hands.

Is Everyone Suitable for Dental Implants?

Source : Dentist Melbourne
Modern techniques have made it possible for nearly everyone who is missing teeth to qualify as a candidate for dental implant treatment.

The determining factors are a sufficient amount of quality bone, good oral hygiene and generally good health. Age is not a limitation for implant treatment provided the individual is healthy. The healing process may take longer with advancing biological age and this is pertinent with respect to the patient’s mental well being and physical fitness. Prior to implant treatment, the remaining teeth and gums need to be healthy and as already discussed regular hygiene and check-up appointments are important for long-term success.

In patients who have already lost significant amounts of bone then simple and predictable bone grafting procedures are available to replace such lost bone. These procedures may involve the use of an artificial bone graft or the use of the patient’s own bone. This is dependent on the size, type and position of the bone loss (bone defect).

Your implantologist will advise you if these procedures are required and the type of procedure that will be performed. This will also be included in your consent letter (as preciously stated this is provided before treatment is commenced).

The Consequences Of Tooth Loss

Throughout the course of life, teeth are lost for many reasons, including cavities, gum disease, cracked roots and accidents. When a tooth is lost the bone that previously supported that tooth starts to res-orb away. Missing teeth can compromise your eating habits, speech and appearance.

Tooth loss in the front of your mouth can result in a visible defect obviously, as the tooth will be missing. In addition, if it is restored (without using an implant) with time there can also be a defect in the bone which can be difficult to mask. Such losses can affect the appearance of your smile and self confidence. Missing teeth
at the back of your mouth lead to the collapse of your bite, affecting the appearance of your face, your ability to eat and the health of your remaining teeth. Complete tooth loss results in facial structure collapse as the jaws deteriorate over time.

Rootcanal Treatment by best dentist in melbourne

Source: Root canal treatment melbourne

Root Canal Treatment is necessary when the nerve of a tooth (or pulp) becomes diseased or infected. In such cases the nerve of the tooth must be removed.

If a patient's tooth pulp becomes irritated, bacteria will begin to grow within the tooth. This growth results in pressure and causes pain as well as possible facial swelling to the patient. If a Root Canal is not performed, eventually bacteria will destroy the pulp. The bone structure around the tooth will then become infected and will inevitably lead to tooth loss. Previously if a tooth became infected or diseased it would have simply been removed. Today however, every possible step is taken to save all teeth and keep you with your natural teeth for life.

To conclude if Root Canal Treatment is necessary x-rays would be taken at your dental consultation. After which point a series of appointments would be assigned to you for your Root Canal Treatment.

Throughout your Root Canal Treatment Holistic Dental will ensure every possible step is taken to make you feel comfortable and at ease. We will make certain all of your questions and queries are answered and that we work together as a team to preserve your teeth.
